I'm installing a TCI constant pressure valve body in '91 C1500 with a 5.7L. I pulled the valve body and seperator plate and the 3-4 accumulator piston, spring, and pin were missing and the oil ports have been blocked off. I posted on a different forum and someone said this was done to firm up the 3-4 shift but I can't really find any information on this mod. I'm wondering if I should try to remove the staked checked ball and install a new piston and spring or should I put it back together as it was with the new valve body?

There should be "one" blocked off here and that is toward the back of the bore. That is fine. I block that hole all the time for a better 3-4 shift. There is a very small hole (in a metal plug) next to it with a apx. .025" feed hole that should not be blocked. You can leave out the pin and piston when that rear hole is plugged.
